An Ombudsman is a specially trained volunteer, often a spouse or family member, appointed by a Commanding Officer to act as a vital link between the unit's command and its families.

They act as advocates, refer families to resources, and assist with communication during crises and deployments.   

They provide information, referral resources, and advocacy for families, helping them navigate military life and emergencies, while improving command understanding of family needs.
